How to cite

nwsaom. Cite the nwsaom manual and report the version that produced your results, as printed by nwsaom version (for example “nwsaom 1.3.4”):

Grund, T. U. (2026). nwsaom: Stochastic actor-oriented models in Stata. Manual. Zenodo. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.23623807

The DOI is the one of all versions of the manual (there is one Zenodo record, with a new version for each minor release of the package), so it always leads to the latest manual. Always report the exact package version as well.

The manual (PDF) is archived at Zenodo (doi:10.5281/zenodo.23623807); a copy is in the GitHub repository. A paper on nwsaom is in preparation (see the literature page).

The model and RSiena. nwsaom implements the model of Snijders and follows RSiena, so please also cite them:

  • Snijders, T.A.B. (2001). The statistical evaluation of social network dynamics. Sociological Methodology 31, 361-395.
  • Ripley, R.M., Snijders, T.A.B., Boda, Z., Voros, A., Preciado, P. Manual for RSiena.

Depending on what you used, also cite Lospinoso and Snijders (2019) for goodness of fit, and multiSiena (Snijders, Koskinen, Ripley) for Bayesian estimation.
